About the area:
For many years Helidon has been famous for its natural mineral springs prized for their great healing and therapeutic properties. The local Aborigines bathed in the spring water to ward off illness and after European settlement, the springs attracted the frail from far and wide. Arthritis, rheumatism, muscular aches, pains, stress, and a host of other ailments are said to be relieved by soaking in the warm, mineral-rich water. During your stay with us; come and relax in our mineral spa pools.
The region is sometimes known as the ‘Salad Bowl’ of South East Queensland due to its rich agricultural industry, employing hundreds of backpackers and locals throughout the year. In addition to this, Helidon is known for sandstone quarrying, with the earliest quarry opening in the 1860’s. Today the sandstone industry directly and indirectly employs and supports hundreds of households throughout the community and is used in the construction of transport hubs, landscaping, property development and building.
The city of Toowoomba is just 15 minutes’ drive up the range and offers a host of things to see and do. Not far from Helidon you’ll also find wineries, historic homesteads, national parks and a host of scenic drives as well as activities and sports including Sky Diving, Paintball and Laser Skirmish, Hot Air Balloon Riding, 4 Wheel Driving, Archery, Horse Riding and Fishing – just to name a few
